In a recent issue we showed the profit ot growing oats for chaff in the Wan* ganui district. The attached is the cost here. It is assumed that the field was in grass to commence with, and the cost of putting it bach into grass is also giyen, as in this district it is unwise to grow oats for more than one year on the same piece of land. Of course the new grass would be much more valuable than (the old for feeding purposes and would carry for more cattle to the acre : Ploughing, 78 per acre; discing, 3s per acre ; harrowing (twice), 3a per acre; sowing, 2s per acre; seed, 10s per acre; manure, 12s per acre; cutting, 7a per acre ; stooking, 2s per acre ; harvesting, 6 s per acre; chaffing, 8s per acre; carting, 4s per acre - } total, £3 4s per
