Cheese and Butter Market.

Messes E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following butter market report fiom their London principals, Messrs Mi 11/t and Sparrow, dated June 18, 1909 . There is no change to report with reference to weather conditions, which are not as favourable as the farmer wishes#

Danish.—There is a good steady demand, and prices are unaltered. Siberian. Arrivals this week are about 11,000 casks, and these are clearing steadily, but holders are very firm in price. French. —Price for fresh “ unsalted ” rolls has been advanced for Monday’s delivery 6d per dozen, and baskets 4s per cwt both salted and unsalted. Australian. —Butter ex s.s. “ Marathon” and ‘‘ Orotav ” have landed in good order, and are clearing at quotations.

New Zealand. —Practically all the finest are cleared. The s.s. “ Ruapehu ” is idue to dock to-morrow with about 3,000 boxes on board. These should sell readily as there are quite a few customers who keep on to these butters as long as they are available. Cheese (New Zealand). —Some of the s.s. “ Corinthic ” cargo has landed in a somewhat heated condition, and these have to be sold promptly. This has not helped the market, which to-day is rather on the weak side.

Canadian.—Fodder cheese are not selling well and quality is poor. Quotations. —(Butter): Danish, 11 Cs 1128; French, 88s, 965, 104 s, to 110 s; Russian and Siberian (finest), 98s, 100 s, and 102 s; Russian and Siberian (fine), 925, 96s ; Victorian, cleared ; New South Wales (finest salted), 100 s, 102 s ; New South Wales ( vnsalted), 102 s, 104 s ; good fine salted, 945, 965; Queensland (finest salted), 98s, 100 s; finest unsalted, 102 s, 104 s; good, fine salted, 945, 96s ; New Zealand (finect salted), 104 s, 106 s; fine salted, 100 s, 102 s ; finestl unsalted, 106 s, 108 s: fine unsalted, 100 s. 102 s, 104 s. Cheese (New Zealand), finest white, 60s 62s ; finest coloured, 625, 635.
