Volunteer Notes.
If WING to the inclemency of the weather it was impossible to fire for the “ Knock Belt ”on Saturday last. The date of firing will be duly annonuced. Renewed activity is being evinced in P.M.R. shooting circles, amongst which there are doubtless many embryo Belt winners. In order to bring the Trentham Belt to Te Aroha a few more shootists should endeavour to attend the big meeting, We would like to see at least halfa dozen members of the Piako Mounted Rifles attend next Trentham meeting. Arrangements have been made for a field day at the rifle range on Saturday morning next, at 10 o’clock. It is expected the approaching Volunteer Social will eclipse anything of the kind yet held in Te Aroha. The Pilling Shield will be competed for at the Rifle Range on Thursday, August sth. There is an opening for a few good recruits in the Piako Mounted Rifles. We would like to see more of our young men interest themselves in volunteer matters.
