Messrs E. Griffiths & Co. are In receipt of the following butter market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated 4th June, 1909 J
Weather.—ls very Unsettled } heavy rams have been frequent, but the temperature is altogether too cold for Vegetation.
Danish.—Quotation is reduced another three kroners in consequence of ’lower prices ruling here. Siberian.— Arrivals have not increased as is usual at this time of the year. Quality is irregular and prices in sympathy with Danish are lower. , Fiench.—The make in France is not increasing as was anticipated. Quotation sigenerally remain Unaltered although in some instances a reduction of Is to 2s is made to induce business. Australian.—The s.s. “ Omrah ” c'onrfu * n Ue course > b u t only had about 6,000 boxes on board. There has beenfno life m the trade, although the few regular and known brands have cleared at a reduction of 2s to 3s on last wee^. New .Zealand.—Trade has been most disappointing, and the s,s, •< Paparoa’s ” butters are not clearing as anticipated. Buyers are hob ling off to the very last box. waiting events, and in the hope of getting on at lower prices. Cheese (Canadian). —The quotations over the cables have fluctuated considerably during the week, but to-day are slightly firmer again. New Zealand.—lf anything, prices are on the easy side, although there is no appreciable reduction in quotations. Buyers are adopting fa 3 hand toi m0llt “ Mm arc not laying in ftny stocks.
