Methodist Quarterly Meeting.

The quarterly meeting of the Upper Thames Circuit was held at Te Aroha on July 7th, at 2.30 p.m., in the Methodist Church. There were present : Eev. A. J. Eeed (in the chair), Messrs Bridgman and Featherstone (Home Missionaries) and fourteen officials.

After the Deyotional exercises the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman extended a hearty welcome to Messrs Featherstone and Rushton, who took their seats in the meeting for the first time.

The balance sheet for the quarter ending June 30th was read. It showed a debit balance of £7 3s 3d. This, considering the heavy expenditure of the past quarter, was considered most encouraging. It was decided to forward letters of thanks for donations of horse-feed ; etc.

The membership roll, notwithstanding removals, showed an increase of seven on the quarter.

It was decided to have the Home Mission effort made this Quarter. Encouraging reports were given of the Sunday Schools. It has been decided by Conference that every June quarterly meeting in the Dominion should express its views with relation to the the separation of New Zealand from the Australasian Conference. The question was introduced by Mr W. S. Allen (Senior Circuit Steward), and spoken to by other members. The voting resulted in 16 against separation and one neutral.

It was resolved to add Gordon to the list of preaching places on the forthcoming plan, and also to add a monthly Sunday Evening service to those hitherto held at Waihou.

A committee consisting of Messrs W. S. Allen, Bridgman and Featherstone was set up to make enquiries re acquiring a site for a church at Putaruru.

During the afternoon refreshments were provided by Mrs A. J. Eeed, The time and place of next meeting was left in the hands of the Chair-

man. A very happy and hopeful meeting was closed with the Benediction.
