Thames Deep Levels.

GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY GRANTED,

Wellington, July 9. The Government has decided t~> grant a subsidy of ■ £ for £ up to £5,000 for a deep level cross cut at the Thames, subject to the necessary vote ibeitig passed by Parliament. The subsidy is to be paid on the actual cross-cut from Thames-Hauraki shaft to Kuranui-Cale-clonian shait, No. 1., and on subdividing drives connecting, the various claims with the main crosscut.
