Invercargill, June 18. & A VrhbhE old man, named John Kane, who had been wandering about Pomahaka district, was charged to-day with being idle and disorderly. He had been waudeiiug about wbeeever he could igct shelter. He refused to apply for a pension or to eater a home. Mr Cruiekshank S.M., said he did not like to imprison the inuu, who was too proud to accept a pension. Asked if he would go to the Homo defendant said he had his uoubts about the value of tho institution aua objected. lie was sentenced to three months. The warrant to be suspended if Kane remained at Cavershaui Home.
