To Our Lady Friends : RECIPIES. Wellington Pudding.— Pare, core and mince 3 apples, mix them with lb bread crumbs, 3 oz. sugar, 3 oz. currants, salt and nutmeg to taste, and the rind of £ lemon, Beat up 3 eggs, add, and beat well. Put the pudding into a buttered basin, tie it down with a cloth and boil for 1 \ hours, and serve with sweet sauce.

Pineapple and Tapioca —Wash 1 lb tapioca and soak in water for .1 hour, then boil till transparent ; stir in | lb sugar and juice of 1 lemon. Peel the pineapple and put it through the mincing machine. Put a layer of tapioca at the bottom of the dish, then one of pineapple, and continue in layers until the dish is full. Bake in the oven for A an hour, and serve with custard or cold cream.

Kiss Cakes.— ]- lb flour ; ] lb cornflour ; } lb sugar ; 1 teaspoonful baking powder, a pinch of salt, put all through a sieve, rub ] lb butter in, beat 2 eggs and mix all together. Drop small pieces on a flat dish and bake in a quick oven till done. Join two together with jam. Treacle Sponge-— Take 3 cups of flour; \lb suet; 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder ; 1 cup treacle ; 1 teaspoonful powdered ginger ; mix well together and if too stiff add a little milk. Boil 3 hours and serve with sweet sauce. HINTS FOR THE HOUSE.

If a cork is too large for the neck of a bottle, drop it into boiling water for three minutes and it will be found to fit quite easily. For stained hands, try rubbing them with lemon juice and salt. Never put soda in water in which you wash china that has any gilding on it. Soda injures the gilding —use soap instead, this has no ill effects and answers just as well.
