MORRINSVILLE

(Own Correspondent) The Oddfellows’ Ball, held on Friday night, proved highly successful, the hail being neatly decora* ed. and the new regalia worn by the members added to the effect. The word “ Welcome,” neatly painted, was hung over the stage, and flanked by the regalia of the Order, showed up to the credit of® those in charge of the arrangements. Visitors were nresent from the-Loyal Sistirs of Hamilton Lodge; Duke of Cambridge, Ta^Awam'utu;; and Te Aroba Lodges. Dancing was kept up with spirit till 2 a.m., the music being suppled by Mr M. Sealer (comt), and Bro. J. j. Watts (piano), Miss Penman and Messrs Worthington and V G. Bro. Shaw kindly assisting with the extras. Miss Penman rendered a piano solo in an accomplished manner, and the humorous iduet by Messrs Love and Bae was much appreciated. whilst trio “Merry Beh's,” by Bros. Turnbull, Oates and Pickett was very well sung, Mrs Turnbull playing the accompaniment in a pleasing man- ' ner. The duties of M.’sC, were in the capable hands of Bros. A. Gumrner and T. Little. The supper arrangements were in the experienced hands of the Committe, assisted by Mr and Mrs Turnbull, and full justice was done to the good things provided. Altogether, the Oddfellows are to be complimented on the success of their first anniversary ball. Mr Johanson, the contractor for the filling in of the drain in Thames-street, is making good progress with the work, and the Town Board is to be complimented on the great improvement which will be made to the main street, and also giving it a much needed footpath. Mr Clarke, of the local Telephone Exchange, has been transferred to Palmerston North, and Mr Hughes, of that office, is in charge here Mr Stackpole has disposed of his hairdressing and billiard saloon to Mr Shaw, of Cambridge.
