Visit of Dr. Makgill to Te Aroha.
♦ I Dr. Mikglll, bacteriologist, etc,, fori the Health Department, accompanied by Inspector Franklin, visited Te Aroha on Tuesday. The main purpose was to taka ’ samples of the town water supply for ! aualysis. The samples were taken from the intake supplies reservoir ;and from I the reticulation. It is some six years ! since the D octor was in Te Aroha, when he was in charge of the Health Department, Auckland district. Several matters were very favourably commented on, the electric light, the many improvements in the buildiugs, the bridge, aud especially the sanitary airangements, the whole of which reflected credit on those who had helped to improve Te Aroha in so many ways that considering the smt ll number of residents it surprised him the quantity of work that had beeu done since his last visit. A 8 to the water, he thought he should be able to send a fairly favourable report. One thing, he said, ap pe ired certain, that the water had not causpd any typhoid fever or epidemic, as there had been none, since the water service was complete 1, that had originated in Te Aroha. Whatever impurities there might be, there shou’d be no dangerous germs. We shall await the Doctor’s report and analysis. he has taken samples of Thames supply, both county and borough, also Paeroa and Waibi, which will be published when his analysis is completed. Dr. M tkgill left in the evening by the “ wild cat,” en route for Wellington.
