Discarded Rifles.

Melbourne. May 14. Inquiries show that about 1903 several thousand discarded Martini rifles were sold by auction, and were purchased by a Melbourne firm, and that in 1906 between 8000 and 9000 were sold to Greener, an English firm of guuraakers. The M nister for Defence was surprised at learning .this, and has now issued instructions that none are to be sold unless rendered absolutely useless.
