A man went into a second-hand clothes dealers shop the other day, carrying an overcoat under his arm.

“ What will you give me for this?” he asked.

The shopkeeper considered and then said, “ five shillings-” “ What!” cried the man. “ It’s worth at least twenty-five shillings.” “My friend,” replied the shopkeeper, “if I were selling that coat to you I should not charge you more than 6s. I do not want to fcheat you.” “ Here’s your six shillings ithen,’ replied the man ; then edging towards the door, he said, but you had it marked 26s at the door. This is the same one !"
