Waihou School Cadets.
The Waihou °chool Cadets are a staunch htth> body, and take a good deal of inteivsfc in their drill, shooting, etc. The strength of the corps is 21, with a Sergeant, Corporal, and Lance-Corporal. Notwithst.-md ng the fact that long distances had to be travelled to attend class-firing last year, three marksmen’s badges were won by Corporal Cooper (68), Private O’Donaghue (66), and Private Yo, s-y (63), out of a possible 84. On Friday afternoon last Mr Rice presented the badge to Corporal Cooper, who was pres-lit, and in a few choice remarks complimented him on his success, and called for three elvers from his comrades which were heartily given. This badge also carried with it a cash prize (given we believe, by Mr Rice). A site for a rifle r nure lias been secured by Mr Rice, through the kindness of Mr Curtain, and it only remains for the new School Commit! ee to prepare it for use as soon as possible.
