Piako Rugby Union.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the above was held in the Waihou Hotel on Wednesday last. Mr Glynu-Lewis presiding. There was a good attendance of players and supporters.
The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Consideration of the balance-sheet was held over in order to have it audited, Mr Abbey being appointed for the purpose. Correspondence was read from the Matamata Football Club intimating that they were withdrawing from the Piako Rugby Union, having formed a separate Union of their own.
The Waiorongomai Football Club, represented by Messrs Beeson, Brunt on, and Young, applied for affiliation. Mr Bpeson explained the objects of the Club, and submitted the proposed boundaries, and it was decided that the application be accepted. Considerable discussion took place re affiliation of both Thames and Goldfields being mooted. On being put to the vote the meeting decided in favour of Thames. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing year. Patron Mr Herries, M.P. ; President, Mr 0. F. Pilling ; Vice Presidents, Messrs J. Me* Sweeney, C. Manuel, W. F. Ross, H, Bruntou, R. G. Lewis, R. L Somers, McGruer, J. Ganley, H. iMagill, Watts, W. Greening, A. W. Edwards, T. J. Farmer; auditor, W. R. Johnson. The election of a Secretary was held over, Mr D. Borrie being appointed pro tern. It was decided that the Secretary receive £5 per annum.
