TE AROHA COTTAGE HOSPITAL
[To. the Editor.] SIR, —Since writing to you last re the above subject the following case has been brought to my notice, which occurred here some few years ago. A young man suffering severely and requiring immediate medical attendance, which necessitated the attendance being carried out :n a hospital, was, through the courtesy of some private individuals here convey; d in a buggy to Hamilton Hospital. (I am sorry to say his remains only arrived there). On the road, one can judge the horror with which those who bad kindly volunteered to take him, on turning to see if the sufferer required any easement during the journey, found that owing to the jolting and rough road over which they had to pass had told so much on the physical staength of the invalid, that he had died, in spite of all efforts to keep life going until their ai rival at Hamilton. Now, Mr Editor, this case happened as I say, some few years ago, and yet, in spite of this we have the fact to-day staring us in the face that an amount/has been voted by Parliament to alleviate all these matters, but Government seem to ignore it altogether and allow the amount to remain on the Estimates. As you said in your article we hope the amount will be “ lifted from the Estimates ” and used for the purpose for which it has been voted, without any further delay.—l am etc, K. F. W. Lyoxs-Moxtgomery
