Te Aroha Borough Council.
A special meeting of the above took place last evening, when there were present His Worship the Mayor (R. Xj, Somers, Esq.,) and Councillors Annan, Hubbard, Rowe and Jackson.
The nightsoil contractor, Mr J. Robinson, applied for permission to transfer his contract to Mr Jas. Agnew.—Agreed to on the motion of the Mayor, seconded hy Or. Hubbard. The agreement between Mr J. Rowe and the Council for lease of part of eeciion 8, for a fire brigade station, from year to year, for a rental of £2 was read.—The seal of the Council was duly attached there* to.
Cr. Rowe mentioned that Mr McDonald, of Rqakaka, had informed him that he had had h s house built with all the fittings ready for the electric light installation. He expressed himself as willing to pay several years rent in advance, if the Council would install the light. —On the suggestion of the Mayor it was decided that Mr Crosher ascertain the number of lights the settlers were prepared to take, and report at next meeting. i
