London, April 6. Mrs Maria Cridland, daughter of Sir Pope Alexander Cooper, Chief Justice of Queensland, sued her maiden aunt, Miss Sabina Cooper, a wealthy lady, for slander. The action arose out of an inquiry into the sanity of Miss Cooper, during which Miss Cooper reflected upon Mrs Cridland’s moral character. The jury awarded a farthing damages, each party to pay their own costs.
