SCOTLAND V. IRELAND. A WIN FOE THE KILTIES. I " An international match had been ' arranged for Saturday last, but l when the entries were all in the ; contest narrowed down to a trial of 1 strength between the Shamrock and the Thistle At least one of the rinks, we might mention, was somewhat mixed. However, a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The green was in good order and the players looked fit and willing. The games resulted as follows : —No. 2 Rink— Scotland : Messrs Spooner, Brown, Salmon, Wallace (skip) 11, v Ireland : Messrs Stanley, McKee, Jansen, Dalton (skip), 22 —No 3 Kink— Scotland Messrs Dixon, Box» Eev Thompson (skip) 21, v Ireland : Messrs Gahagan, Murphy, White, (skip), 20 —No. 4 Rink— Scotland Messrs Maingay, Sherlock, Crosher, McGirr (skip), 34, v. Ireland : Messrs Hubbard, Chapman, Dr. Kenny and Somers (skip) 14* Total points Scotland 64 ; Ireland, 53. Before the players dispersed the President of the Club, Mr D McL. Wallace, presented the caretaker of the Green (Mr J. W. R. Guilding) with a parcel of silver, as a mark of appreciation of services rendered 1 during the past season. The recipient briefly acknowledged the gift, j stating that he had endeavoured to give satisfaction, and at the same : time do his duty.
