London, February 18. All hopes of further rescues from the Stanley Colliery, Durham, where a terrific explosion occurred yesterday, have been abandoned. The total death roll stands at 150, an increase of 40 upon the number first supposed to be entombed. -

Thousands of miners’ wives from Stanley and adjacent collieries spent the whole night and succeeding day at the pit’B mouth, waiting news of the imprisoned men. The search for the missing is being continued with all possible vigour.
