A Teacher Dismissed
SEQUEL TO T£ ORANGA HOME ENQUIRY
Christchurch, February 12. A sequel to the 1 e UraDga Home inquiry has been provided by the dismissal of Ada Hurrrion, a teacher employed at the institution. At the inquiry Miss Harrison criticised the management of the matron (Mrs Branting), in several important respects. She prefaced her evidence by asking whether it would endanger her position appearing before the commission: “ lam a teacher here and waut to remain,” she said. Is it a method in the department to dismiss an officer without letting her know the complaint against her ? ” After being reasured by the commissioner she gave evidence. Bue has now been dismissed from the position uuder circumstances that seem to suggest a connection with what had occured at the inquiry. Miss Harrison said she had been dismissed summarily, and given three months salary in lieu of notice. ...
