The Mining Diƒiculty.

i THE THAMES MINES.

INTERCHANGE OF TELEGRAMS.

Thames, Yesterday. f E understand that yesterday the reesentatives of the Thames Miners’ union forwarded telegrams to the Waiotahi and Victoria companies asking when the rniues would be working to their full extent and stating that the men were anxious.

The reply received was that the companies were making arrangements for ihe insurance of the men and that when this was completed the work would be resumed.

It appears strange that while many of the Thames companies have expeditiously arranged insurances so that the men re • turued| to work last Monday, the other companies mentioned have found it necessary to delay the employment of all the men in the mine previous to the trouble.

THE REEFTON MINERS AT WOKK

IiEEITOX, January 19,

The Miners’ Union simply rescinde 1 the resolution re not goin;; to work and also entered a protest against the exertion wage at Otira. Work has been resumed in all the rniues.
