Sale of Paeroa Lands.
Paeroa. Thursday The sale of the Government sections in the township of Paeroa took place to-day, and was conducted by Captain. Boscawen, on behalf of the Commissioner of Crown Lands. The terms of the sale were; One fifth cash and the balance of the money within 30 days. In those cases in which there were improvements their value had to be paid to the present holders of the land in the event 'of anyone but the holders purchasing the land, There wasa good attendance and considerable interest was taken in the proceedings. In nearly every case the sections at present occupied were purchased by the holders at the upset prices, For the unoccupied in the vicinity of the Recreation Ground there was good competition, and most of them realised consider* ably more than the upset prices. For the other unoccupied sections there was very little demand, and only a few of them were sold, the general opinion being that the upset prices were far in advance of the value of the land, 1
