400 MEN ENTOMBEJ

RESCUE WORK PROCEEDING,

Berlin, November 12. An explosion of firedamp shattered the galleries of the Great Eadlod coal mines situated at Ham, Westphalia. A full staff of miners was at work when tho the explosion occurred and four hundred men are now entombed. Rescue gangs were at once set to work, and a portion of debris was quickly cleared away with the result that thirty six men, all injured, were discovered and rescued.

The fate of the rest of the miners is un known-
