“NO-LICENSE LECTURES."
SIE, - The other day the question “Are the lectures on No-License of any benefit to the cause” was the subjict of discussion by a small paity of which I was one. The general opinion seemed to be that if they helped the cause of NoLicense at all it was in a very slight degree—that in the case ol many of the lecturers they did more harm than gqod. Hear any of these No-lieense lectures, the same old yarns about some special young man being ruined by tasting beer ence, the same old twisting and turning j of figures, the same old mis-statements, ' the same old cant, the same old humbiig j that marked them when I heard the first * lecturer in New Zealand, The average | man or woman is quite capable of decid- j ing whether he or she shall or shall not j vote No-License, and there is no need for the army of parasites that are fattening to-day on the cause of temperance, and the sooner legislation to prevent any lecturers (brewer’s too) from worrying us with this No-License business or License the better for us all. There are signs rising to show that New Zealand is getting, sick of the whole business- And no wonder as I’ve heard nothing else talked for the last month. I feel so disgusted over the whole racket that I’m going to scratch ont the whole three lines. How will I vote then ? lam etc., Disgusted.
