Methodist Sunday School Anniversary
list Sunday, the-first of November, the Methodist Sunday School celebrated its sixteenth Anniversary, the services all being conducted by the liev. H. Blarmres. The children belonging to tbe school, with their bright faces and bappy songs lent that powerful element of attraction which always associates itself with such services. In the morning the preacher addressed his remarks to the parents, classifying his subject under re sbeads: the influence of the Home, the Day School, and the Sunday School.
In the course of his remarks the reverend gentleman gave his hearers some interesting information as to the successful working of the Bible in Schools system which obtains in New South Wales, of which state he has had personal experience. ttie afternoon the sermon was addressed to the children tnemselves, and took the form of an interesting object lesson, and in the evening the preacher addressed himself especially to the young manhood and womanhood of his congregation, basing a fervid and telling plea for the recognition of the claims of Christianity upon the account of the interview between the young: ruler and Our Lord.
The afternoon and evening services were well attended, the friends from the other churches who have lent such valuable assistance with the musical pait ol tiie services, showing their sympathy also by being present in considerable iorce, in the congregation, a fact much appreciated by the members of the Methodist Church, to whom this feature o tfie day is always one of the most pleasing.
