HEROIC RESCUED
CvicUTTA, October 1. Many heroic rescues occurred during the Hyderabad floods, which were worse than at first reported. One estimate gives the death roll o: 10,000. Nurses at Victoria, Zenana, saved the patients by carrying them over fiat roofs of buildings which were almost covered by raging waters. - ' The British officials in boats, rescued many natives from trees and tops of temples where they had climbed as the floods advanced. Waters receded almost as quickly as they rose. From rushing torrents 60 feet deep, Mussi river became a trickling stream in two days.
Starving and destitute victims of the flood are looting grain and liquor .shops in devastated area.
Catholic Priests statione 1 in Hyderabad showed extreme heroism and coolness. Their attitude immensely encouraged panic stricken natives.
