Ohinemuri County Council.

The monthly meeting of the above Council took place at Paeroa on Thursday afternoon. Mr W. G. Nicholls presided.

For the construction of 80 chains of drain on the Netherton-Kerepehi Road the tender of R. and J. McKee, at £l5B, was accepted.

Nine tenders were received for the installation of a water supply at Wailrino, ranging from £5992 to £4765, and that of J. W. Forrest at the latter price was accepted. The Mayor, clerk, and engineer of the Waihi Borough Council waited on the Council with a request that delegates be appointed to interview the Tauranga County Council, in company with the Waihi Bor ugh delegates, regarding the portion of the Waihi Beach Road in the Tauranga County. Messrs Grace and Crosby were appointed. It was agreed to give the Waihi Borough Council a 40 years’ lease of a portion of Walmsley’s Road for a tram line. It was decided to do work on the road to the Mangaiti creamery at an estimated cost of £7O. It was resolved to invite tenders for the supply of 1500yds of spauls for the Puke Road.

An application was received from the Maoriland Gold Mining Company for a grant of £4OO for prospecting work on the Maoriland claim at Waitekauri, and it was decided to forward the application to the Minister for Mines

Residents of Wh mgamata complained of the bad state of the WaihiWhangamata Road, and the engineer was instructed to report on the matter.

Messrs Strange and Trezise were appointed to confer with delegates from the Thames and Coromandel on the subject of hospital and charitable aid administration.

A claim was Received for £75 for earth alleged to have been taken from Mr A. Cassrell’s property, near Paeroa, but the Council declined to acknowledge an}’ liability. R wac decided to apply to the Government for a sum of £IOOO to be placed on the Supplementary Estimates for the Lower Paeroa-Te Aroha 1; oad.

The eugineer was instructed to report on the cost of a suspension bridge across the Okincmuri River, opposite Doherty’s Creek. The Finance Committee’s report showed the overdraft to bo £9102 8s 2d and receipts last month as LI 678 0s Bd. Accounts amounting to £1684 2s 7d were passed for payment.
