Hockey Match
TE AROHA T. ROTORUA ANOTHER WIN FOR TE AROHA The representatives of the Te Aroha and Rotorua Ladies’ Hockey Clubs met yesterday afternoon in the Bridge Domain, when the return match took place. The weather was all that could be desired, although in the early part of the day it looked somewho threatening. The Rotorua team, accompanied by escorts, arrived by the 1.30 train and were met by members of the local Club. There was a good attendance of spectators, who appeared to watch the game with intense keenness from start to finish. The game was one of the best playel this season, and resulted in a win for Te Aroha by one goal to nil The score for Te Aroha was the result of a smart piece of play by Miss D. Edwards, for which * she was loudly applauded. At times the visitors were very close to scoring, but Te Aroha’s goal-keeper (Mrs Annan), saved her side.
The Rev. W. Blair efficiently carried out the duties of referee while Messrs Gahagan and Kirby kindly acted as line umpires. During the afternoon the visitors were entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs Annan at her residence.
Last evening a social evening was tendered the visitors by the local Club, in the Hot Springs Hotel sample room, when a most enjoyable time was spent.
