ROYAL GEM has had a most successful show ring career, having gained seven first and three champion prizes at the Waikato, Franklin, Auckland and Cambridge shows. His sire is the great champion stallion, Royal Conqueror, No. 304 NZ. 5.8., whose fame as a show-ring horse and a sire of show-ring stock is well known. Royal Conqueror, sire Crown Prince ; dam Clydesdale Fancy. Crown Prince is by the celebrated Lord Salisbury (imp), dam, Dorusel (imp.) Lord Salisbury and Damsel werethemost successful representatives of their class and sex ever bro ght to the colonies. Lord Salisbury never suffered defeat, and was shown at all the principal Shows in England, Scotland and New Zealand. Damsel was over twenty times Shown throughout the same countries, and only once (as a year ling) was she defeated). Gem, bay mare, sire Rosebery (imp.); Ist dam Darling, by Argyle ; g.g dam by Prince Arthur (imp), Gem was bred by the New Zealand Stud Co. She is by the really grandly bred stallion, Rosebery, whih tle-y imported from Scotland at a very high price. He was a prize winner at the best shows in Scotland, iuclu ’i'lg the Highland Society, and was sired in the renowned Prince of Wales. BEN McCORMICK 434, was a most successful stallion, a sire of really good stock and a most handsome sound show ring horse. He won many prizes, including cham |pions won at Auckhnd and Waikato Shows. His breeding is I undeniable, being got by Benmore, ! No. 302, dam—Christina F. McCormick No. 663 Ben More 302 was a ' well-known champion in his time he won nearly fifty first and champion prizes in Australia and New Zealand, and was the sire of many first-class horses. Christina F. McCormick was one of the very best mares in every sense of the word that ever graced Waikato, and she won many championships at Oamaru, Auckland, and Waikato. Royal Maid, No. 1036 was got by Royal Conqueror, No. 304. dam—Gouria Maid, No, 666. Royal Conqueror No. 304 was one of the most, popular and successful sires of his time in the Waikato .both as a show ring horse and a sire. Gourie Maid, No. 666, is one of the best brood mares in the Waikato at the present, both as to consistency in breeding and quality in her offspring. She has never suffered defeat in class for mare and progeny. Royal Maid has won prizes as a filly in good company and has been one of two horse teams and also of three horse teams with great success. She has been a consistent and successful breeder.
Ben McDhu, who is a nico dark bay in colour, with particularly good mark* ings, gave great promise of following the show ring feats of his ancestors, but owing to an accident met with in bis youth he has never been shown.
