An Unconscious Juvenile Humourist.

A delightful specimen of confusion of topics occurred the other day in a local school. The pupi's had been told that the game of chess was invented by a Persian priest. Later, they had a lesson on the invention of printing in Germany by John Gutenberg and its introduction into England by Caxton. Incidentally they were told that one of the first books printed by Caxton was “ The Game and Play of Chess.” This is how a Standard Y. lassie began a composition on the lesson :—“ Print • ing was invented in Germany by a Persian priest named Jol n Gutenberg. John Gutenberg was the man that learned William Caxton to play the game of chess.”
