Three thousand men. however, reassembled after t lie departure of .the police, and forming into a procession, started to march to the Lord Provost s house. When the procession, was a quarter of a mile from its destination a squad cf mounted police suddenly charged and scattered the mob in all directions Batons were freely used, and many heads were broken.
