School Committee.

The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Te Aroha District School Committee was held in the school-house on Monday evening last, when there were present: I.’ev. Mr Dukes, Messrs Ashby, Devey and Sherlock (Secretary). In the absence of the Chairman, the Rev. Dukes was voted to the chair.

The minutes of the last ordinary, and special meetings were read and confirmed.

—Fumigation.

The Chairman stated that with the sanction of the Chairman and other members of the Committee he had written to Inspector Franklin, asking him to take steps at once to thoroughly fumigate the school buildings. The request was acceded to, and the school buildings were fumigated on Saturday last.

Mr Dover stated that if on a future occasion it was found necessary to fumigate the school, he would willingly do so if the Committee so desired, as he was in possession of the necessary appliances

It was resolved on the motion of Mr Ashby seconded by Mr Sherlock that Mr Devey’s offer be accepted with thanks.

A letter was read from M iss Ray (late assistant), thanking the Committee for its kind expressions regarding her work in the School, and for their sympathy in her illness.

—Library Books.—

Tho school library has been greatly added to of late, and an account from Messrs Upton and Co., Auckland, for £27 2s 9d was passed for payment. The Secretary was instructed to apply to the Board of Education for the £1 for £1 subsidy, up to £lO, promised by the Board for the School library fund.

—Accounts.—

The following oecounts were passed for payment:—J. Robinson, 13s 6d ; J. B, Johnson, 2s 6d ; Mrs May. £2 Is 8d ; J. E. Wild, 7s ; Baine and Co., £2 0s 9d ; petty cash. 2s 6d. ’I bis was all the business.
