THE DOG NUISANCE.

To the Editor.

Sii,—. A few days ago a correspondent complained of the “ dog nuisance ” to the worshippers at the Anglican Church. complaint might be made by those attending the Methodist Church. Within 200 yards of the said building there are a number of yelping dogs kept, which continually disturb public worship. It is also a common remark of visitors “ there is no getting to sleep in a place , like this. You might as well live in a dog kennel.”—l am, etc.,

Resident.

To the Editor,

Sir,—As a visitor to your town, kindly 'allow me to make a few remarks: Te Aroha is fast becoming famous for its mineral waters, and the benefits that are Arrived from bathing in these waters are most wonderful. The Domain grounds are a picture of beauty. I am indeed sorry tdJgijkar that you have several cases of fever in your town. I thought I would have a look around and see what was the cause of this, as in a Tourist re- j sort we visitors expect to escape all sick- I nesses. I notice, sir, several workmen engaged in putting down the footpath on the south side of the town; this will indeed be an improvement when completed, but it is a pity that the town drains were not I cleaned out first, as there is no doubt they are the cause of so much sickness just at I present.\ I noticed one in particular, that I empties itself into a lagoon, alongside of | where you are having a bridge erected. I This drain .is in a filthy condttion and J ought to ,be seen to at once. If this.! matter of cleaning out drains is not at- I tended to shortly you may expect a { number of cases of fever in the near ] future. I quite understand that your I Council may be working short-handed, I but let us hope they will not lose sight of I flushing out or cleaning the drains before j the tourist season sets in.—l am, etc. I

Visitor.
