Stud Notices TO stand at To Aroha West this coming season and travel the Burr oun( ii n g di^tiicts BEN McDHU No 562, N.Z.S B. Sire Ben McCormick. No 434, darn Royal Maid, No. 1036. Ben MoCor- ! miek 434, was a most successful stallion, a sire of really good stock and a most handsome sound show ring horse. He won many prizes, incltid ing champions won at Auckland and Waikato Shows. His breeding is undeniable, being got by Benmore, No. 302, dam—Christina F. McCormick No. 663. B-n More 302 was a well .known champion in his tin e, be won nearly fifty first and champion prizes in Australia and New Zealand, and was the-sire of many first-c ase 1 horses. Christina F. McCormick was one of the very best mares in every of the word that ever graced Waikato, and she won many championships at Oamaiu, Auckland, and Waikato. Royal Maid. No. 1036 was got by Royal Conqueror, No. 304. dam—Gourie Mail, No, 666. Royal Conqueror No. 304 was one of the most popular and successful sires of his time in the Waikato both as a show ring horse and a sire. Gourie Maid, No. 666, is one cf the best brood mares in the Waikato at the present, both as to consistency in breeding and quality in her offspring. She has never sul-Tered defeat in class for mare and progeny. Royal Maid has won prizes as a filly in good company and has been one of two horse teams and also of three horse teams with great success. She has been a consistent and successful breeder.
Ben McDhu, who is a nice dark bay in colour, with particularly good markings, gave great premise of following the show ring feats of his ancestors, but owing to an accident met with in his youth he has never been shown. He shows immense power combined with good quality and soundness from any heredi’ary in ections, and h's breeding should insure his success as a sire, as every strain on either side of his lineage is of the best, and to enumerate the prizes won by them wou'd fill a volume. H x s pedigree could be extended to an indefinate length, as General Fleming, 305 •, Crown Prince, 430; YouDg Banker, i; Lord Salisbury (imp.), 114; and many more names of well-known ch mpions appear in tracing hie breed™ ing; so it wi-1 bo passing Strange if Ben McDhu does not prove a.-profit-ab!o acquisition to dr.ight horse breedeis who m; y use him.
