HOCKEY MATCH
LADIES v. GENTLEMEN
A DRAWN GAME
As we anticipated there was a big attendance in the Bridge Domain yesterday afternoon, when the fancy costume hockey match, ladies v gentlemen, took place. At times the excitement rose to fever heat and the spectators cheered and cheered again, urging on their respective fancies.
The game, which was fast and furious, resulted in a draw, each side scoring one goal. Miss L. Spooner shot a goal for the ladies ; while Mr Atkinson scored for the gentlemen. Mr 11. Keesing h'd charge of the game and gave general satisfaction. The following are a few of the fearful and wonderful make-ups of the gentlemen hockeyites Mr Fred Harris, ivy-green skirt, latest style, shirt blouse and short sleeves.
Mr Atkinson, blue costume, red hoops and Fleet bonnet. Mr Fred Wild, long brown skirt, while full bodice, and “Dr Jim ” hat.
Mr Tom Donovan, full dress, handsomely trimmed with muslin gauze, Dolly Varden hat. Mr Frank Kean (full back), midget of the team, Tui Pah blouse, “ D.V” hat ; dark skirt and sox to match. Mr Binsted, all white dress, neatly trimmed, Irish cap nailed on. Mr T Gavin, junr., factory-cream skirt, blue stripes, and pretty little toque. Mr Len Allen, dangerous looking green blouse, and midnight skirt Mr Payes, black skirt and tightfitting shirt blouse. Mr Kirby, white shirt, red ribboned belt and black collarette, real picture hat.
Prior to the match bo h teams were photograolipd by Mr Palmer.
