Stud Notices TO stand at Te Aroha West this Njoming season and travel tLe Burr oU nding districts BEN McDHU No 562, N.Z.S B. Sire Ben McCormick. No 434, dam Royal Maid, No. 1036. Ben McCormick 434, was a most swcessful stallion, a sire of really good Ptock and a most handsome sound show ring horse. He won many prizes, includ iog champions won at Auckland and Waikato Shows. His breeding is I undeniable, being got by Benmore, No. 302, dam—Christiana F. McCormick No. 663. B n More 302 was a ■ well -known champion in his tin e, he won nearly fifty first and champion ■ prizes in Australia and New Zealand, and was the sire of many firsh-c’.ass , horses. Chiistina F. McCormick was i one of the very best mares in every j sense of the word that ever graced Waikato, and she won many championships at Oamaru, Auckland, and Waikato. Royal Maid, No. 1036 was got by Royal Conqueror, No. 304. dam—Gourie Maid, No, 666. Royal Conqueror No. 304 was one of j the most popular and successful sires j of his time in the Waikato both as a show ring horse and a sire. Gourie Maid, No. 666, is one o£ the best brood mares in the Waikato at the piesr Dt, both as to consistency in breeding and quality in he r offspring. She has never suffered defeat in class for mare and progeny. Royal Maid has won priz ?s as a filly in good company and has been one of two h use teams and also of three horse teams with great success. She has been a consistent and successful breeder.
Ben McDhu, who is a nice dark bay in colour, with particularly good markings gave great promise of following the show ring feats of his ancestors, but owing to an accident met with in liis youih he has never been shown. He shows immense power combined with good quality and soundness fr«>m any heredi ary in egtions, and hs breeding should insure diis success as a sire, ns every stiain on either side of bis lineage is of the best, and to enumerate the prizes won by them wou’d fill a volume. H A s pedigree could be extended to an inlefinate length, as General Fleming, 305 •, Crown Prince, 430 ; Young Banker, i; Lord Salisbury (imp.), inland many more names of well-known champions appear in tracing his breeding ; so it will be passing strange if Ben McDhu does not ‘prove a profitable acquisition to dc.ight horse breedeis who rm.y use him.
