BRITAIN SECURES CHIEF HONOURS. London, July 26. Britain secured chief honours at the Olympic Games, winning no less than .38 out of a total of 83 ' events, and beating her nearest- competitor, United States, by sixteen wins. The points scored were : Britain, 38; United States, 22 ; Sweden, ;7 ; France, 4 ; Hungary, 3 ; Germany, 2 ; Canada, 2 ; Italy 2; Belgium/1; South Africa, i,*; Finland 1. Thirty-five thousand people' were J present at the Stadium to witness 1 the presentation of the prizes to the victors of the various events. Her Majesty the Queen distributed the gold medals and trophies, while the King presented each runner with a sprig of Windsor forest oak tied with , a miniature Union Jack; Durando, who had completely recotered, was given an overpowering reception when the Queen presented him with a special cup donated by herself.
