Wellington, July 21 The House met at 2.30 p.m. ' v The Minister of Labour stated that the report of the Government did "not intend to put into operation the Agricultural Labourers’ Accomm od->.tion Act. It was absolutely untrue tliat the regulations uiider the Act were under consideration. The Prune Minister said the Government had never proposed to pay travelling’ and hotel expenses of members visiting Auckland during Fleet week. The Minister of Defence said the defence report would be brought down shortly. . . Mr Davey (Christchurch"“East)" criticised at considerable length Dr. Chappie’s speech on Sana; said it was a mass of theories and contradictions. ■*
Mr Okey, strongly Supported the Special Land, for Settlement Act, and hoped that the Government would place a vote on the Estimates this session'for the Opunake-Eltham railway, which would be of great interest to the Taranaki t} district. He also strongly, advocated the opening up of the native lands. ~ , ■ The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m.
