Counril could not comply with request as no benefit would be derived by county roads*: • —Richmond Downs Roads— Messrs. Stewart and O’Neill, forwarded plans of Richmond Downs Roads completed and ready; for dedication.—Decided to pay a visit to the roads in question on 28tn inst. Morrinsyille Council Chambers— Application from G. F. The Lodgo expressed its willingness to pay a small rental—lt was resolved on the motion of Cr. Manuel, seconded by Cr. Garland, stating that he had been paying Tates to County for forty e, and never did so with more rence/than at present. The roads are iu a deplorable state. He added that for the sake of having better roads it was a pity.that Cr. McCaw did not live out that way.—Cr. From District Engineer, advising that the Coupdl will be permitted to make a ; new road crossing at the Taupo Totara • Timber Company’s line at Putaruru, but that Council must make ,their own arrangements with the Taupo-Totara Timber, Company, Council decided to make .further enquiries fromMrWilson re necessary land for crossing. —Request for Road— J. S. The Council’# solicitor adviced that Mr Codper’is opinion of September, 1899, is a correct statement of the law a# it stands at the present time, And that the Thames High School- is liable for rates. —It -was resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cf. McGloin, that action be taken,

The receiver of land revenue, reply to an enquiry, stated that' “ The 'Timber and Flax Royalties Act, 1905," does not apply to timber sold fropi lands under the Land for Settlements Act. Therefore’ there have not been, gny "halves’ allowed on payments made by the Selwyn Timber Company.” '• ‘ —Outlet Drain— V ’A. Mildcelsen, drew attention to the v outlet: drain from TattcrsaU’o Road through Mr J. Bynes, which is in bad repair and needs cleaning out; also road droin from to his gate. The following tenders were dealt with, and on the motion of Cr. Manuel seconded by Cr. Thomas the lowest fonder in each instance was accepted. Contractors must complete contracts within gpecified time: - Contract No. 2 —lmproving tho Drainage on the Thames-Waikato Road for about 20 chains, opposite Mr William Thomson’s property, between Te Aroha and Waihou: Stanley Bros., 10s lid per chain; Timmins and Mercer, 8s sd; W.
