American Presidency.
SQENE AT BRYAN’S NOMINATION. NEW YORK, July 11. When his nomination described Mr Bryan as the choice of the militant democracy the convention cheered, and there was a sene of wildest enthusiasm. Innumerable flags were waved, a white dove was released above the platform, and a great portrait of Mr Bryan lowered from the roof amidst fresh cheering. Banners, were grouped round Mr Bryan’s party, whose platform was unanimously adopted. It incindes a tariff plank demanding the immediate revision and reduction of the import duties, gradually restoation of tariff revenue basis He declared that the articles competing with the Trust controlled the products, which should forthwith he placed on the free lists. The duties on the necessities of life shquld be materially reduced, especially those articles competing with America, which were manufactured and sold cheaper abroad than at home
Mr Kern, an Indiapolis lawyer, was nominated by acclamation for the Vice-Presidency.
