Own Correspondent, The Morrinsville Entertainment Society, held their second social evening on Wednesday evening last, which took the form of a dance interspersed with songs, readings and recitations, a number of variety dances were introduced and the entertainment was a most successful one, and the. Society is to bo complimented on the superior quality of their entertainments.
—Destruction of Small Birds.— As an instance of the extent of tho small bird pest, a local resident captured no less than two hundred and forty-six sparrows at one haul on a couple of feed boxes. One can surmise how much oats they would leave for the horse to eat. —Football.— The local footballers notched a \vin on Saturday beating the Montagi native team by 17 points to 3. Mr Lowry made an impartial referee. —Oddf ellowship.
A number of local Oddfellows, journeyed to Te Aroha on Friday night, ithd attended at the installation of officers of the Loyal Hot Springs Lodge, and had a most enjoyable time being hospitably entertained by the To Aroha brethem. . —Hockey.— The local Hockey Club have arranged to play Rotorua'ladies here on Saturday next.
