Cabinet Authorisations.

At a meeting of the Cabinet last week the following railway votes were authorised :—North Island Main Trunk, £1,000; Canterbury and Marlborough, £250 ; Gore-Waikaka, £2,000 ; Orepuki-Waiau, --£1,400 ; Midland, £SOO ; Hiverdale-Switzers, j£800; Catlins-Waimahaka, £550; Tenders were accepted for platelayers’ 1 cottages at Te Hama and Wellaford, ‘ on the Helensville Northwards railway. The lowest tenders for creosoting sleepers and for a supply of sleepers for the Ka wakawa-Grraham-town railway were accepted ; also tenders for the supply of 10,000 silver pine sleepers. The lowest tender for the supply of linseed oil was accepted, and the purchase of a further supply of " Black diamonds,” for drilling purposes in connection with mining, was authorised.
