Waihou Domain Board and Cemetery Tenders.
A meetxkg of the above was held ,in Mr Pavitt’s office the other evening, when there were present: Messrs F. Pavitt (in the chair), A. W. Edwards, T. Mclndoe, J. Lavery, E. L. Somers, and H. Boss. The secretary (Mr G. Deverell) was also in attendance. • . [ , T , Minutes read and and outward correspondence dealt with. —Leases—' r 7. The Board decided in respect to tenants, sub-leasing, and ongmal party be held responsible for rent. —Rent Due— It was decided that immediate steps be taken to secure outstanding rents due. —Eecreation Ground — • The question of re-placing trees destroyed in the Recreation Ground was loft in the hands of Messrs Pavitt, McIndoe, and Somers. The fence is also to be repaired. _ . . —Blackberries— . It was resolved on the motion of Mr Mclndoe that unless the tenants cleared blackberries off land, the terms of the lease be enforced. ‘ —Gallagher’s Holding — .. '■ The lease of Mr E. Gallagher’s, being about run out, it was resolved to call fresh tenders for same. Tenders .close 13th July. Conditions of lease to be seen at Secretary’s office. _ . , At the close of the Domain Board the Cemetery Trustees met, the v-sarne members, being present:— ■.' ■>- v The Chairman laid on the table a duplicate plan of cemetery and register. A number of minor matters in connection with the cemetary w*re also dealt with. ■ y

T had be«n wrongly informed r<: ima matter, and requested the Chairman .o write to Mr Poland, explaining tbr v:;u* position in respect thereto. The Secretary was instructed to write to certain owners of pigs, re same trespassing on cemetery reserve. Resolved that outstanding accounts b 9 placed in the hands of the Board s solicitor for collection. Iu future no burials are to take place in cemetery unless lots are paid for. Accounts were passed for payment. —Resignation— Mr F. Pavitt, resigned nis position as Chairman of the Board, as he is leaving the district. He regretted very muoh having to take this step. , ~ All the members present spoke m eulogistic terms respecting. Mr Pavitt and expressed their deep regret at losing him after his lengthy connection with the Board, and the harmonious manner in which the businese had beeu named out during his term of office. Mr Lavery spoke of the 20 odd years of Mr Pavitt s chairmanship and proposed that a letter bk sent—and recorded in rasnnte book—to Mr Pavitt, regretting his depart- re from their midst. Mr Jas Lavery was elected Chairman, in place of Mr Pavitt. '•’>
