Sub-Inspector O’Donovan of Wellington, is to be placed in charge of Palmerston North Police sub-District and station ; Sergeant W. J. Phair, Wellington, is to be raised to the rank of SubInspector ; Sergeant Darby, of Thames, will be made' a; station sergeant at Wellington. ■ ' WAIHI ASSAULT *CASE. . n : WAIHI, June 17. Buckeridge, who atsaulted Constable Flavell, at Waikino while in the execution of liis duty, was brought before the Police Court to-day. He was convicted and discharged, on a charge of drunkenness, and a prohibition order was issued against him. He was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for assaulting the constable, and ordered-to pay £4 13s by way of fine, and damage to the constable’s clothing.
