Band of Hope.
The monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Band of Hope took place in the Public Ha!l on Tuesday evening last. The hall was well filled, and the Secretary, Mr J. Wild should ' feel proud of his efforts to make the evening a success. The Rev. Blair occupied the chair, and the meeting opened by the audience singing one of Hoyle’s Temperance Hymns, at the conclusion of which the following programme was gone through : Dumbell exercise by 10 members af the Te Aroha Gymnastic Club. This item was certainly worth seeing and when we know that the boys had only three practices for |he performance (their other practH» being of a different order) we seethe interest they take in the Club, and also the necessity for the town to do their best to help it financially. Mr Gahagan donated the sashes worn by • the performers, and he must have felt gratified to see his goods going through such exercises. Cornet solo, Mr Donovan ; song, Mrs Gardner. and Sons; duet, “The Ocean of Life,” by Bert Poole and Cyril Wild ; recitation, Len Monk ; address, Mr Hubbard; performance on parallel bars by the Gymnasium Club; ; collection; chorus, “ Press Onward,’’ by the girls; song, Mrs Gardiner.; chorua by three little girls, “ Please Give me a Penny Sir.” This item was well responded to by the audience, which greatly pleased the little performers Recitation, “ The /, Old Brandy Bottle,” by Bert Poole ; . song, “Red, White, and Blue,” by - Mr Maxwell.
