HOCKEY.
TE AROHA v. WAIHOU. The above clubs met in Mr Magill’s paddock, Waihou, yesterday afternoon, and a very exciting game was witnessed. The day was all that could be desired and both teams looked eager for play. Waihou wou the toss and decided to defend the northern goal. Mr Cooper of Waihou and Mr Fred Harris of Te Aroha acted as linesmen, and Mr Glover had charge of the whistle. . For some time the play was very even, but towards ! the epd of the first spell Te Aroha by 1 somcelever hits got the ball well into their 25 line, and after some hard play on boths sides, Miss Hare got the ball out and scored tho first goal for Te Aroha. When half time was called the score was .Te Aroha 1, Waihou nil. During the second spell Waihou came near scoring several times, but Te Aroha were deter - I mined not to allow them, and when the game ended, the visitors were victorious I by 1 goal to nil. At the conclusion of ! the game the Waihou club entertained j the visiting team and their friends to a j sumptuous afternoon tea. The Te Aroha I folk arrived home about half past five, I after spending a very enjoyable after--1 noon.
