THE WAIORONGOMAI HOTEL LICENSE.
• ‘ ' jJ: [To the Editor.] Sir,— The lady, who I believe holds the paid, position, of organiser for the No-license League in the Tauranga Electorate has been busy canvassing Te Aroha West, Manawaru, Shaftesbury,; and Gordon with a petition against the license being granted to the new hotel at Waiorongomai. What good she hopes to do with it I cannot see, as she ought to know that there is no legal .obstacle to the granting of the license. Possibly she is merely trying to sound the districts for the Local Option Poll in December. If so she could not have gone a worse way about it, as although a great many-of us are desirous of temperance, we have not yet lost all the feelings of humanity. Possibly the lady in question has * been led astray by some loca enthusiasts, possibly she wants to make some sort of display for the good salary she gets from the /Alliance.— l am, etc., , Waiorongomai.
