I. .How Mahon was killed at the Grand 'Junction' was as under: Arthur Yelland had just concluded oiling up the air compressor, and gone to the ‘ crank wheel, as is his usual practise, to give the crank a start over the centre, The -deceased* jumped ,'J down from where he was sitting, and Mid something to the effect that he would give the driver a hand, and went over to the right crank wheel, which is fended off as a protection against accident. The deceased step- •; ped on to the iron portion of the wheel,., and lifted. The wheel went round with a jerk, and Mahon was thrown bodily over on to the end of the engine just under the crank, .the first turn of which caught him on the body near the stomach, - • - him instantaneously.
