Piako County Council meet on on day next.

Mr and Mrs J. S. Cotterell, of Shaftesbury, Te Aroha, has left by the Hauroto for Rarotonga, Tahiti, and other islands of the Eastern Pacific. Mr Cotterell, who previously resided for many years in the islands, intends to investigate’ the possibilities of one of them with regard to the cultivation of tobacco and rubber.

On Wednesday evening last the Druids held their monthly social. There was a large attendance, and everybody spent an enjoyable evening. The music was first-class, being supplied by Mclnman’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Miss E. Bossons, and were well appreciated. The catering was in the hands of the ladies who deserve much credit. Messrs Geo. Deverell and H Keesing gave every satisfaction as M.C’s-

The first practise of the Gymnastic Club held on Monday evening last, was very successful. Some twenty odd members going through the performance. Instructor Paultridge is very well pleased with the looks of his school this season, and hopes by the Ist night, 31st May, to be able to give a very creditable display-! The new members seem determined to do or die and dont shirk their work however hard, and the secretary has undertaken to see that a special prize is given for the best improved of the new contingent. The club have procured another set of boxing gloves to prevent members from catching cold these frosty evenings-
