YOUNG MEN’S CLUB
[To the Editor. —No reader of the appeal on behalf of the proposed Young Men’s Club, published in Tuesday’s News, could fail to beimpressed as to the desirability of such an institution. * Nor could' reasonable objection be raised as to the amount, asked for- and the method of raising it. Such an institution, properly conducted and popularised, will be of decided benefit to the lads and young u men of our town. In helping it, townspeople help themselves. £2O is a most modest sum of money to ask from the inhabitants of so flourishing a town as Te Aroha. The fact of our local newspaper ' editors, and Messrs Somers, Gilchrist and Mclndoe giving their support ond acting as receivers of monies given in guarantee that the proposal is of support. ; Will the amount he raised by May 30 P' Will it be that those, able and willing to give, will forward their donations by that date? Often in such matters,, when personal solicitation is not employed, people, despite the best of intentions, delay giving until too late. There’s many a good cause, many a promising rpovement suffers and, perhaps, completely fails. Citizens of Te Aroha ! there is a tide in the affairs of men (and institutions) which, taken in the flood, leads on to fortune. In the affairs of the Youug Men’s, dub such a tide is now setting in. "Will you help the committee to successfully launch their craft ? “He gives twice who gives quickly.”—-I am, etc., ‘ i" ■ Well-wisher. '
